Own your voice
Your weekly fodder
“Own your voice. Write in the voice that comes naturally to you, not the voice you wish came naturally to you.” —Gayle Forman
Sometimes finding your own voice is challenging, not because it’s hard to hear, but because it’s easy to emulate a different voice—one that’s more refined, sexier, or wittier than yours. Who hasn’t read a book from a favorite author and thought, “Why can’t I write like that?” But the key to a powerful voice is actually writing like YOU. I’m starting the new year with this very important reminder lean into MY voice, just as you should lean into yours. It is your unique perspective that resonates with others. Give yourself permission to embrace your voice, even if you don’t think it’s good enough. You are enough, just as you are. If this resonates, feel free to share in the comments, or reply to this email to reach me directly. I’ll always do my best to answer.

Yes, Melanie, I think you have made a very good point and an important one. I applaud it. That perspective of yours can extend to the whole of you. Based on it you will be able to truly be YOURSELF, without a mask. And that is your gift to the world.
